Communications Committee

MONTHLY MEETING:

Description
We have more and more opportunities and channels to communicate events and chapter information to our members. This committee is responsible for handling those communications, and keeping our membership up-to-date. They are also responsible for some materials presented at our events, such as sponsor recognition, and maintaining the SMPS Columbus website. Due to the responsibilities of the committee, some duties can be administered outside of work hours or from home, but required some technical understanding, such as social media skills.

Logistics/Special Events Committee

Description
This committee assists with the planning and logistics of chapter events ranging from the monthly luncheon meetings to special events like the Holiday Party, 30 year Anniversary Celebration, Golf Outing and Family/Member Appreciation Event.

Programs Committee

Description
This committee is charged with the planning and execution of the chapter’s bi-monthly luncheon programs. The committee meets monthly, but subcommittees assigned to specific months’ programs may meet separately to work out details of the program often coordinating with members from the Logisitics and Communications committees. Only the content of the luncheon program is the work of this committee – all of the logistics of the space, the meal, and the caterer is handled by the Logistics/Special Events Committee.

Membership Committee

Description
This committee handles the planning and execution of activities related to the recruitment and retention of current Chapter members. They are active throughout the program year in a multitude of activities and initiatives around Chapter membership, including the new member breakfast, networking events, and sponsor/member appreciation events.

Education Committee

Description
:
This committee is charged with the planning and execution of the chapter’s bi-monthly educational events, with a focus on increasing the knowledge base and productivity of our members within their firms. Educational events vary and include luncheon seminars focused on emerging A/E/C industry trends that impact our members, hands-on workshops on marketing best practices, and training on real-world topics that provide value to our members including proposal development, writing tips, interviewing skills, business development tactics, leadership and professional development, and more. The committee meets monthly and works collaboratively with the Logistics Committee (event space, catering, technical setup) and the Communications Committee (event promotions via website and social media, registration) to deliver a diverse offering of educational events throughout the year. 

Mentorship & CPSM Committee

Description
:
This committee is charged with the planning and execution of the chapter’s mentorship and CPSM study group. The Mentorship & CPSM Committee plans and produces the Crossroads Mentorship Program, which includes pairing mentors and proteges, facilitating in person meetings, and hosting roundtable sessions. The committee is also responsible for the CPSM study group that reviews and prepares members for the exam associated with CPSM certification.
