Education Opportunities through SMPS

SMPS Columbus provides several education opportunities for our members. We provide Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) through our monthly programs and several Marketing Idea Exchange (MIX) Events throughout our chapter program year. We also offer CPSM courses and have a "Lending Library" of resources for members to check out at no cost! See below for more details: 


 
CPSM
Certified Professional Services Marketer Program

 

Getting Your CPSM CPSM:

  • Shows that your skills are current
  • Shows initiative when certifying is not required
  • Separates you from peers
  • Raises management’s confidence level
  • Keeps you valuable and marketable
  • Provide you with personal satisfaction that you’ve mastered your position

 

SMPS is effectively validating your skills for your management team – the CPSM certification is legitimate!
Some certs are very much "pay a fee to take a test and get your cert," and those are the least valuable certifications. SMPS requires you to join their professional society first, then you have to prove you have the relevant experience to be considered for the certification, then you get to pay to take the test. This certification, where you have to demonstrate not just that you've studied a topic, but that you also have the knowledge and at least some experience to back it up, is validated and valuable.

SMPS Columbus Lending Library

As a special benefit to SMPS member, we offer an exclusive library of publications devoted to marketing in the A/E/C industry. Other, more general business publications with applications in our industry are also available.

Check Out Procedures:
Simply e-mail Kelly Zemcik, Education Director, at kelly.zemcik@mmbuildings.com with your selections. A confirming e-mail will then be sent to you with a pick-up date for your materials. If an item is currently unavailable, the requested book will be placed on hold for you and you will be notified when they are ready for pick-up.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off of Materials:
Books can be picked-up at Miles McClellan Construction Co (2100 Builders Place, Columbus, Ohio 43204). If this is not possible, other arrangements can be made. To drop-off materials, please enclose a cover note ATTENTION: Kelly Zemcik. If you prefer, you can also mail, Fed-Ex or UPS the books back to Kelly’s attention.

Check-Out Requirements:
Each publication is available for loan for up to three (3) weeks to any current SMPS member from date of check out. In an effort to provide as many members as possible with access to the library materials, a limit of two (2) books per member is permitted at any one time.
