A Letter from the SMPS Columbus Chapter President

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

- Mary Oliver, The Summer Day

This quote is clearly not my own, but it is one I choose for my life. It hangs above my dresser as a reminder that I get to have a new and exciting day every day. I get to because I am lucky. I am also using it as a reminder of why I am serving as your President for the 2015-2016 SMPS Columbus year.

This past spring, the incoming Board held a strategic planning session to look at the next three years of the chapter and we are excited to start implementing a lot of these ideas over the next year. One of the items we presented is this: “What is important to SMPS Columbus?” The top initiatives included learning, collaboration, fun, innovativeness, and integrity. We would like to encompass all of these items in everything we plan and do this year. We have a very exciting slate of programming, special events, and MIX programs over the next year.

My personal goal this year is to give back to the members and enhance what is offered through your membership. Starting with this idea, we created a way to pre-pay and pre-register for each monthly program over the 2015-2016 year. This was a feature requested from our members and we are proud to kick-off the year with this offer. More information on the program can be found here. We are also offering more value for sponsors, more valuable programming and new ways to connect with industry leaders and professionals from other industry associations.

Making the most out of my coming term as President will rely heavily on our amazing volunteers. If you have ever considered engaging further with the Chapter, now is the time.  We always need more help on committees, volunteering for an event, or serving on the board. It really is a wonderful way to get to know other members, as well as network for your firm. If you would like to learn more, please reach out to either myself or Stan Fuller, our Membership Director.

I couldn’t be more excited to represent this chapter and am looking forward to serving as your President for the 2015-2016 year!

The greatest opportunity you have to make the most of your membership is to volunteer. SMPS Columbus is gearing up for the 2015-2016 program year and we want you to get in on the action! We are looking for engaged, motivated people to serve on committees and assist with special events. Undertakings and time commitments vary and are flexible, so there is something for everyone’s work and life schedules.
